 AP - Thousands of people hoping to be the next Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson or even Sanjaya lined up outside Qualcomm Stadium on Monday as auditions for the seventh season of "American Idol" began.

Ball State names building for Letterman (AP)
 AP - Ball State University plans to name its new communication building after David Letterman, a 1970 graduate. Letterman has often mentioned Ball State on his CBS "Late Show" talk show. The school has had a Letterman Scholarship in the Department of Telecommunications since 1985.
